The Origins of Humanity

Published by ENTIA on

There is no clear answer about true origins of humankind. The single fact is clear – human civilizations that have developed across all known worlds are not examples of parallel evolution, but were “seeded” across all of these worlds over a millennia ago.

Different factions have developed distinct explanations to the unified origins of humanity as a species. Below are some most prominent example gathered from across the known inhabited space.

The Imperial Explanation

After the Unification Wars, the First Monarch Unmesh Khan chose to favor Pangean native Oceanism as the official religion supported by the state. According to their canon, humans of Limmea are descendants of an ancient and powerful civilization that lived on the planet for thousands of years.

These ancient Limmeans grew arrogant in their power and disrespected the Ocean – as divine punishment their civilization got upended by a sudden great flood around a millennia ago. Only few survivors were humble enough to fear the nature and saved themselves onboard of three arks that later ended up on three Limmean continents: one was tossed ashore on Pangea, one on Araszi and one on Dar.

This notion of unified origins and shared ancient bond was very instrumental in facilitating the planetary unification over the generations of Monarchs from the Khan dynasty. When Limmeans under the guidance of Alexander Khan reached to the stars, they found other humans living in neighboring star systems.

All of these civilizations were on a technological level below the Limmeans and it was revealed that none of them had any recorded history before the alleged Limmean great flood. This discovery, with Monarch’s approval, have urged the Oceanist clergy to pronounce all these human civilizations as long lost brethren of the Limmeans.

Notion of uplifting these less developed “younger brothers” was used to legitimize ruthless colonization of their worlds and appropriation of their resources. Rebellions were crushed and those humans who chose to cooperate were welcomed to join Limmean Monarchy as proud Second Class Citizens.

The Federal Explanation

In the early days of Human Interplanetary Alliance, the Exodus Theory was established. It was based on two facts:

Some people from newly discovered human-inhabited worlds had strong genetic bonds with inhabitants of neighboring star systems without previously possessing any means for interstellar travel. Astonishingly, minor genetic drift suggested that these relations originated only few dozen generations back – at the time when all these civilizations were merely primitive villagers.

Also, each of these civilizations had no historical accounts prior to the past millennium and some of them shared similar myths about their forefathers “coming down from the sky”.

Based on these findings, a theory about shared origins of human species became a fact, but the exact planet from where all humans came from remained a subject of endless debate. Over the decades since the invention of interstellar travel, multiple prophets, cults and planetary governments across the Human Interplanetary Alliance have tried to claim ownership over the truth.

None of these claims was convincing enough to achieve the universal recognition. Origins of human species remained elusive… Like a glaring blank space in the middle of a book page. Until the Great War erupted.

During the first decade of clashes across the border, few Imperial soldiers were captured and brought to Azor. After extensive interrogations, few of them were allowed to be interviewed on a live news forecast. There they revealed the Imperial claim about Limmea being the true origin point of humanity. This statement was obviously scrutinized by the show’s host, but have reached billions of people.

As the new myth of the “Limmea as the lost cradle of Humanity” was taking fold, a group of powerful industrialists saw an opportunity in it. They have employed Imperial prisoners of war as advisers and financed establishment of the Homecoming Foundation – a non-profit organization dedicated towards liberating Limmea from the authoritarian regime of the Monarchs.

Years later, when Human Interplanetary Alliance have consolidated into the unified Federation, Homecoming Foundation became a source of funds for multiple political campaigns and shaped an ideology that have deeply embedded itself into the highest echelons of Federal politics.

Oppositional figures point out that this quest to liberate Limmea as alleged humanity’s planet of origin, is based on false assumptions as it is not backed by any real evidence. They also oppose the Great War and urge for a diplomatic solution to this conflict, as the prolonged fight with allegedly tyrannic Empire does nothing good, but only erodes democratic institutes inside the Federation itself. Unfortunately, their voices are often silenced by active lobbying from the Homecoming Foundation and the Federal military-industrial complex.
