Droug is a name given by Elza to a hairy beast that she encountered on OGL-25.

The First Encounter

Droug have stumbled upon Elza’s tent in the early morning, when she was recovering after her crash landing. The creature got curious of the tent’s unfamiliar shape and was eager to see what’s inside. Its predatory appearance scared Elza and put her on the run, meanwhile Droug followed its instincts and began chasing after Elza.

When Elza have realized that her attempts to escape are futile, she chose to meet her death with pride and roared towards the approaching beast. Droug perceived the naked, frail and roaring Elza as a lost cub and chose to save her from the cold inside its marsupium pouch instead of eating her. Next morning, Droug have released Elza from its pouch and brought her a dead Snow Dragon for food. She did not accept that present, but they still became friends.

Biology

Droug is the only known member of its species. This fact makes it impossible to judge about if its behavior is common for other members of its species, or a singular anomaly. Regardless, Droug seems to be a solitary predator that relies on its ability to overpower and consume smaller creatures. Droug has also a prominent maternal/paternal instinct, although its gender remains unknown.

Visually, Droug in very similar to the Brown Bear from the Old Earth, but some biological traits like a Kangaroo-like pouch identify it as a different species. It is unknown if Droug and other creatures like him were transported to OGL-25 from the Old Earth, or simply represent an example of similar evolutionary patterns of a species native to OGL-25.

Droug as the only known specimen was killed by the Imperial Marines during the rescue mission of Elza Gadar and Lubov Pyr from OGL-25. Its body have not been recovered and is impossible to find.
