Light Attack Cruiser of Shakasir-type is the most widely used military vessel in the Empire during the Mirror Wars. Designed in early 1030s AE as a response to the Federal threat, the first wave of Shakasir cruisers was deployed merely a decade later. Idea behind the concept was pretty simple – to create a warship that would be fast and agile enough to stand against both nimble Federal fighters and be able to outmaneuver their slow Overlord-class Dreadnoughts.
Almost immediately after their deployment, Shakasirs became instrumental in Igor Khan’s retaliation campaign against the Federation. During this campaign in the Federal Space, these light cruisers showed themselves to be extremely effective against ships of similar size and enemy fighters. Shakasir’s armor though appeared to be too thin to stand against the new generation of Federal heavy warships that did not have flaws of unpredictably discontinued Overlords.
Consequentially, Shakasir-type cruisers were replaced as the head attack force by larger and better armored destroyers of Vidroop-AC in 1067 AE. Still, their sheer cheapness and ease of exploitation made Shakasir-LAC into the main patrol and interdiction vessel across the Empire with thousands of units active and hundreds more commissioned.
Prominent Ships
Kai Gadar began his service for the Imperial Navy as a shipmaster onboard a Shakasir-LAC named “Saahas”. Later when he was promoted to a rank of Commander, he was given a similar vessel called “Krodh”. Be it by weird luck or destiny, it was Krodh that have received Elza’s emergency transmission when her ship Agna was shot down over OGL-25.
