Species X
Report Summary, Species X
SPECIAL ACCESS CLEARANCE REQUIRED. DEGREE VH-S.
BACKGROUND, SPECIES X
Origins unknown. First DNA samples were extracted from [REDACTED] while she was in the custody of the Imperial Naval Intelligence. A support request was filed by Col. Varush Najiani at [REDACTED]. Samples were transported to the University of Capitol by the operative under callsign Huntress on the date of [REDACTED].
Initial analysis of DNA samples revealed nuclear complexity that was impossible to decipher with current Imperial knowledge in the area of quantum biology. Attempts to contact [REDACTED] in order to probe their knowledge of similar organisms yielded no results. That contact was immediately ceased by a counterintelligence unit.
The first 39 attempts to clone or grow a similar organism based on the original DNA failed. Attempt #40 produced a viable specimen. The specimen was terminated by order from the High Curator on the date of [REDACTED]. Samples were frozen, and an unlimited hiatus in the research was initiated.
Prior to its termination, the specimen #40 displayed signs of unprecedented anatomical complexity and growth potential. It is the most complex alien lifeform that Imperial science has ever encountered. Due to the xenobiological origins of its research subject, the project and the subject were codenamed Species X.
THE OFF-WORLD INCUBATION TRIAL
On [REDACTED], by the Imperial Will of the High Curator, the Species X project was reinitiated. No previously involved personnel were alerted. The first automatic cloning attempt resulted in a viable specimen #41 in the form of a Seed.
A courier named [REDACTED] was tasked with transporting the Seed to the gardens of [REDACTED] and planting it there. Strict discretion was advised. [REDACTED], the sole caretaker of the facility, was not notified about the implantation of the Seed. Given the research-oriented purpose of the facility, the integral observation suit of the facility has provided automatic daily reports about the further developments of the Seed and the daily behavior of [REDACTED].
OBSERVATIONAL DATA, GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE SPECIES X
Since its initial implantation, specimen #41 has exhibited abnormal growth and unprecedented symbiotic integration with the surrounding flora. After contact with the fertile environment, the Seed began to exponentially increase its mass. Its growth reached 35,000% in just 26 hours.
No interactions between specimen #41 and [REDACTED] occurred during the first day after its implantation into the local ecosystem of the garden. Electromagnetic sensors detected some anomalous data near Species X. Further observation is needed to determine whether it can emit electromagnetic waves. Sensors in the caretaker’s room showed an abnormal sleep pattern for [REDACTED] following the introduction of Species X to the garden. A possible correlation exists.
The temperature around Species X tends to rise as its organism grows. Combined with its nutrient-rich, moist secretions, the being may be classified as a natural terraforming machine. Species X exhibits a unique trait of effortlessly mixing its genes with those of other species. This allows it to establish symbiotic relationships with the surrounding flora and eventually transform them into direct biological integration.
CONCLUSION: SPECIES X EXHIBITS ALL SIGNS OF AN INVASIVE LIFEFORM WITH A DANGEROUSLY RAPID GROWTH RATE. CAUTION ADVISED!
OBSERVATIONAL DATA, FIRST DIRECT CONTACT OF SPECIES X WITH A HUMAN
On Day #2 after the implantation, the growth of Species X and the resulting temperature increase triggered an alarm on the lower level of the garden at [REDACTED]. The caretaker, [REDACTED], immediately proceeded to investigate the source of the alarm. The risk of the first contact could have been avoided by silencing the alarm, but the High Curator wished for [REDACTED] to find specimen #41.
As [REDACTED] came into direct physical contact with specimen #41, unique readings were observed by the electromagnetic sensors. With each physical contact with [REDACTED]’s skin, Species X was sending unique electrical impulses that were interfering directly with her nervous system. Observations indicate that this interaction resulted in a alleged establishment of a psychophysical bond with [REDACTED].
