Imperial Law Enforcements
During the First Era, the Empire had a vibrant pallet of all possible global and local law enforcement organizations. Below are short descriptions of the most prominent ones.
Imperial Civilian Security Bureau
Unofficially called for “Sectionists” by common Imperials, the ICSB is an Empire-wide special law enforcement agency. Their prime purpose is to investigate inner threats to the Imperial State. Just like most of Imperial agencies, ICSB has its headquarters in Capitol of Limmea and hundreds of regional offices all across the Empire. ICSB has some capacity to act on threats that it discovers, but it do also have a strong tradition of cooperation with other branches of Imperial law enforcements and the military.
ICSB is divided in multiple sections. Each section specializes on investigating specific activities and threats:
- Section A is controlling both legal and illegal flow of weapons in the Empire. They do both grant hunting licenses to law abiding citizens and crack down on weapons smugglers.
- Section E is focused on Extremism and Separatism. They investigate people and organizations that conspire against the Imperial State and its citizens. Most mutinies and riots are being prevented in the Empire thanks to Section E agents that infiltrate most dissident groups.
- Section T handles all terrorist threats. They actively share intelligence with sections A and E. Section T has the largest arsenal of violent tools in their disposal. When an illegal shipment of weapons evades the Section A and Section E identifies the beneficiary of the deal, it is the Section T that conducts a search-and-destroy operation. Section T is known for conducting most of joint missions together with SONG.
- Section O focuses on prevention of the organized crime in the Empire. Because of most criminal organizations are acting as shadow enforcers for different Noble houses, Section O does not have as much freedom of agency as other sections. Instead, Section O acts more as a shadow corruption investigation service and secretly sends reports straight to the chancellery of the Imperial Monarch.
Because of their investigative work that involves undercover surveillance and apprehension of Imperial Citizens, ICSB is the most widely hated organization across the Empire. Calling a serviceman for “Sectionist” is a common slur among the Imperial civilians. For this reason, most ICSB employees and affiliates are provided with fake documents that can be used to deny their true allegiance.
Imperial Militia
Every Imperial state or colony outside Capitol has locally organized law enforcements. It is the preferred way to conduct policing of these territories as local inhabitants possess essential social skills an knowledge of local customs that are vital to navigate in their domestic cultural context.
Still, every local police force is officially designated as a part of Imperial Militia and is a subordinate of a centralized office on Capitol. Imperial Militia is focused mostly on investigative functions and day-to-day policing of their local areas of influence. Very few units of Imperial Militia are allowed to have heavily armed squads for resolving high threat situations.
Because of their strong ties with local populations of the Imperial colonies, members of the Imperial Militia are deemed as least loyal servants by the Imperial state. For this reason, members of Imperial Militia possess very modest offensive and defensive equipment that is just enough to have advantage over unarmed civilians. This way, by design units of Imperial Militia are heavily relying on tight cooperation with ICSB and Imperial Peacekeeping Corps.
Imperial Correction and Detention Service
All correction/detention facilities and prisoner transports are handled by ICDS. This centralized structure makes it easy for the Imperial government to keep tabs on all detained subjects. Still, it is known that INI has few secret detention facilities where they keep captured dissidents and adversarial agents. Existence of these shadow prisons outside the direct control and audit of ICDS is a cause of continuous conflicts between these two organizations.
