Rebecka is a character from a graphic novel THE DESCEND.

Short Biography

Rebecka was born to a middle class family in the heart of Gala Prime, the governmental center of the Federal region. Rebecka’s father was a medic and her mother – a school teacher. Since her early childhood, Rebecka was taught by her parents that only hard work, loyalty and dedication can bring her to success.

When Rebecka was in her mid-teens, her father died in an accident when an incurable pathogen was released inside his hospital. (Some sources suggest that it was one of the first outbreaks of the Black Rage) Alone with her mother, Rebecka was forced into a life of relative poverty, but it only fed her motivation to succeed and honor her father’s name by becoming a renown researcher herself.

Rebecka showed herself to be a genious child as she was exponencially outcompeteng her peers in the public school. Which she has finished three years before the expected date. Such outstanding performance showered Rebecka with grants and guaranteed her the best education in the on Gala Prime.

Without taking any breaks, Rebecka enrolled to the University when she was only 16 years of age. She finished the four year long program in two years, and acquired her Bachelor degree in xenobiology by the age of 19 – youngest on campus! These merits were noted by recruiters and Rebecka was offered a position as a field researcher in one of the largest pharmaceutical conglomerates in the Federal Space.

Rebecka’s triumph was short lived though as her mother fell for one of the most aggressive types of cancer. While cure for this affliction have existed in the Federation for years, its price was far above an ordinary medical insurance that Rebecka and her mother could afford. Now, Rebecka is racing against time to gather enough money before her mother’s condition becomes irreversible.

Behind the Scenes

Rebecka was made to be an “squeaky irritating ginger”, but she grew towards much more since her initial conceptualization. Another rule of thumb when creating her was to make Rebecka a complete opposite to her frenemy and nemesis, Kira.
